Parati

The colonial city of Parati half way between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo is the perfect spot for a romantic holiday including endless beaches, tropical islands and little boat trips.

The 30,000 inhabitant city with its small city centre full of cobblestones is very quite and so an ideal place for taking a peaceful rest and forgetting everything else.

Best places to go in & around Parati

The city cenre consists of small cobblestoned streets with very nice little restaurants and cafés at its sides. It is definitely a good spot to go out and have a romantic diner or just to chill out.

For chruch fans there are several nice baroque churches in Parati. Capela de Santa Rita (Chapel of Saint Rita), Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário e São Benedito (Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Benedict), Capela de Nossa Senhora das Dores (Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows) and Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora do Remédios (First Church of Our Lady of the Remedies). The Capela de Nossa Senhora das Dores also looks good tonight as you can see here.

A must do is a trip by boat to the islands in front of Parati. Trips go out several times a day from Parati on smaller ships. The boats slide smoothly through the turquoise water and stop in front of the islands, so you can explore the islands and have a nice laydown at the gorgeous beaches.

Best time to visit Parati

The best time to make a trip to Parati is definitely the Brazilian summer time from October to March. The actual summer months from December to February can be very hot though with temperatures up to almost 40°C. The breeze on the beach or the one on the boats usually make it quite comfortable though. February is also the most rainy month of the year. Showers in the afternoon are very common then.

Enjoy Parati.
